Description
Euro Truck Simulator 2 for PC is the second game in the Truck Simulator series. It's a vehicle simulation game in which the player travels through a slightly fictionalized version of Europe, making deliveries and pickups and learning all about their vehicle.
About the game
Covering a large part of Europe and the UK, the map stretches from Aberdeen to Milan, from Plymouth to Wroclaw, and it's up to you to discover as many cities as possible to fully explore the sandbox mode. The map keeps track of your travels, and it can take up to 160 hours to fully explore every corner of it.
Although you can freely explore the map, you'll be given missions regularly that you must complete to progress. The game is based on the situation of a delivery driver, and the lure of cash will get you out of bed and onto the road.
The story
Start small, like as a delivery driver for someone else, and work your way up slowly until you have enough money to become your own boss. This process can be accelerated by going all in and getting a large loan to buy everything you need to make a big splash when the time comes.
Gradually, you can progress to becoming the boss of a large fleet of delivery vehicles with several trucks and drivers at your service.
What's new
The graphics are superb; you'll feel like you're driving, even if the bumps and ruts in the road seem to go right through your seat!
The scenery is fantastic, albeit slightly fictional, with a great many different landscapes both on and off the road. You need to stay alert and keep an eye out for other vehicles as the road twists and turns unexpectedly. Don't expect to see a lot of detail; the game takes some liberties with real life. But unless you live in the area in question, it's unlikely that you—or anyone else—will be too bothered by this inaccuracy!
Fully customize your vehicle
Since the game's release, there have been a number of updates and expansions, some of which include the ability to fully customize your vehicle. This can be a permanent customization, or you can choose to decorate your truck temporarily: for Halloween, Christmas, or any other special occasion.
Being able to give your truck a unique look really helps you get into the game and makes you feel invested in doing your best in all the missions and challenges you encounter. Plus, it's fun!
Truck models to choose from
There are a number of trucks that players can choose from
- DAF: Originally stylized as DAV until licensing, there are two types of DAF trucks to choose from in the game. Either truck will work well for players who are fans of imposing vehicles.
- Mercedes-Benz: (Majestic until the licensing issues are resolved). The game features five different Mercedes vehicles, two of which are AI cars, one of which is a dump truck, and the other two are drivable trucks. Perfect for those who love driving and the power of Mercedes.
- Iveco: (Ivedo) Choose between two trucks to get your deliveries where they need to go. There is also a freight truck (which can be either a cargo truck or an AI vehicle on the road).
- Volvo: (Valiant) Volvo seems to dominate with five vehicles divided between drivable trucks, cargo vans, and AI vehicles. The brand's renowned robustness and safety translate well to the small screen.
- Scania: Four of these well-known trucks are at your disposal and at least two of them are offered as freight trucks.
- Renault: Two trucks and six AI vehicles constitute the French automaker's contribution to the game.
- MAN: Two drivable trucks offer you an efficient driving choice that will allow you to make your deliveries and return without stress or problems.
