Just days before its official release, the first reviews on\u00a0Starfield<\/em>\u00a0fall. Bethesda's grand adventure receives much praise and wins over critics. There is, however, one point on which reviewers are reluctant. Indeed,\u00a0Starfield<\/em>\u00a0It is available on several platforms: Xbox Series X\/S, PC via the Microsoft Store, and also via Steam. However, it seems that the latter has not been universally acclaimed, at least in its portable version.<\/p>\n

Valve's Steam Deck is known for hosting players' entire PC game libraries, with varying degrees of optimization for handheld and\/or touchscreen devices. To differentiate between games that run perfectly on the Steam Deck and those that struggle, Valve implemented a certification system. However, this system doesn't take into account the game's raw performance, which is a real problem for\u00a0Starfield<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The open-world adventure is so gigantic, and energy-intensive, that\u00a0The game clearly struggles to run smoothly and properly on Valve's handheld machine.<\/strong>. While it was somewhat expected, it remains a disappointment for some who hoped to win.\u00a0Starfield<\/em>\u00a0everywhere with them. Testers who have experienced it report witnessing very long loading times, crashes, all kinds of bugs, and constant lag that is very debilitating in combat.<\/p>\n

Is it still possible to play Starfield on Steam Deck or not?<\/h3>\n

So this really isn't the best version of the game, which is perfectly optimized for Xbox Series. It's unfortunate, but for the moment...\u00a0There is no effective solution<\/strong>\u00a0to take advantage of\u00a0Starfield<\/em>\u00a0optimally on Steam Deck. The media\u00a0TouchArcade<\/em>\u00a0However, a satisfactory result was achieved by lowering all the machine's performance settings and enabling AMD FSR 2.0, which gives you better image quality, but fewer fps.<\/p>\n

Given the current situation, Bethesda's game will always remain what it is, and the same goes for Valve's Steam Deck. A pro or reworked version might accomplish this in a few years, but a title as complete, complex, and vast as\u00a0Starfield<\/em>\u00a0It necessarily needs power. It's not for nothing that Bethesda kept this license under wraps for 25 years, long enough to reach a generation and technical performance that could materialize their precise vision of a space odyssey.<\/p>\n
