But the wilderness holds many hidden dangers, and relentless storms will test your population. If your settlements fall, the expedition may end, but not the game. Against the Storm is a roguelite city-building game, meaning you'll carry over the resources, upgrades, and experience from your past expeditions each time you embark on a new journey into the wild.
Beavers and lizards share the struggle for survival with humans and harpies. Utilize each group's strengths to balance their diverse needs, from shelter and food preferences to a taste for luxury and leisure. Craft raincoats, brew beer, and bake pies to boost morale in the face of the forest's oppressive hostility.
Experience core city-building gameplay enhanced by roguelite replayability. Construct new settlements and collect valuable meta-progression resources to upgrade your burgeoning city. Recurring plague storms pose an unavoidable threat to settlements, but they also reshape the world and open up new opportunities for growth.
With hundreds of gameplay modifiers and five distinct biomes, each city location presents unique challenges, even for the most ingenious viceroy. Adapt your strategy to changing weather conditions and experiment with settlement "builds"—lists of blueprints and perks that can help your society thrive or fall into ruin. Mix and match ingredients to make the most of available resources. You never know what goods the merchant will bring next year, and the forest holds treasures, resources… and ancient threats.
Laying the foundations of a new city is one of the most exciting parts of a city-building game. In Against the Storm, you'll have the opportunity to repeatedly create new settlements, while interacting and trading with established cities in a rapidly expanding world.
