Top games. Very well done.

Fantastic remake, I loved it. Free update on PS5 (kudos to Capcom, as this isn't as common as it was at PS5 launch). The remake is great. A 2023 version of a classic. Maybe my favorite Resident Evil remake. In the same vein as 2 and 3, which were released recently. Brilliant!

A well-executed remake despite a few flaws. Where everything tended towards simplicity in the original game (in the best sense of the word, a single green button to jump over obstacles, shoot, lower a lever, perform a suplex or kick the enemy), in this remake we find ourselves with a slew of controls that are not at all intuitive, for example you have to tap L1 to parry with the knife, O to dodge. In addition, you have to craft ammunition. The laser sight is gone (except on a few guns like the Killer 7 or others where the sight must be purchased separately), as are incendiary grenades (though enemies often set us on fire, sometimes from improbable high places), the ability to replenish ammo by increasing the weapon's capacity, and the opportunities to make jokes about Ashley's curvy backside. This is the first time I've encountered a Resi where the green and red herb mix doesn't fully restore health (if it's maxed out). The scenes with Ada Wong are less well implemented in my opinion; I miss the Assignment Ada mode, I always preferred it to Separate Ways. The interactions with Hunnigan were more fun in the original; all the other character interactions are a bit weaker (not to mention the overly talkative and ubiquitous merchant). Only Krauser's character has been made more interesting, although the iconic QTE scene with him is sadly absent here as well. The new designs for the villains Salazar and Saddler are somewhat disappointing, and their overall contribution to the story is less successful, in my opinion. Weapon switching times are too long. There are some pointless sections, like disarming two or three explosive traps reminiscent of The Evil Within, or the minecart section on the freewheeling tracks (literally) which is more reminiscent of RE5 than RE4. Aiming is a slow, tedious chore on a controller; try hitting a Regenerador's Plagas in one go—it's impossible! Maybe with a keyboard and mouse, but then, help! With that creature charging straight at you. Also worth noting are the terrible texture issues on PS4 at times (unless they finally decide to load completely). It's utterly unacceptable compared to the RE3 remake, which was graphically flawless, and still using the same RE Engine on PS4. I'm really looking forward to the console patch that will finally rid us of this problem – I believe it will. It's a shame that it's impossible to rewatch any of the game's cutscenes in the bonus menus after finishing the game. Too many treasures to hunt for (which becomes necessary if you want money in the game) and some rather lame challenges like killing rats or smashing blue medallions, in my opinion. On the plus side, Leon is still as cool as ever, Ashley is sexier (but a little less funny), Luis is well reimagined, the graphics are sometimes magnificent, the variety of enemies is respected, the replayability is there, and the rebalancing of the different weapons is interesting – even though I loved the Striker, the Riot Gun seems more effective here as a shotgun. I haven't tested all the rewards (called charms in the game) earned from the shooting range or the properties of the different briefcases, but it seems to add some fun overall.

Resident Evil 4 review. This game is extraordinary and the game box is in perfect condition. Better than the original Resident Evil 4.

RE4 remake is amazing! Magnificent!!!

Excellent. Magnificent remake. With a harder difficulty level than the original Resident Evil 4. I just finished it and I can tell you that even if you played the original, you'll rediscover the game. I'm currently replaying it in New Game Plus. PS: For those who ask questions and never get the answers they expect (because I myself read the reviews and Q&As), the game is indeed in FRENCH, with FRENCH voice acting. And the game cover is also in FRENCH. In the replies, some people said the voices were only in English, which is false! So please refrain from commenting if you don't know the answer. Aside from that, this Resident Evil is pure joy; fans of the series will be delighted. Thank you, Amazon.

A sublime remake. I played this game on Gamecube, PS3, Xbox 360, and PS4, each time with the same enjoyment. I finished it several times and became a grand master (a title bestowed upon me with my own consent) of knife use, even on the chainsaw-wielding guy. So I gladly bought the remake. Sublime graphics, breathtaking scenery, and nail-biting tension. I put the game on "normal" mode and couldn't get past the first level. It's not like I don't know the game inside and out. In short, the level is hard. I switched to easy mode, and it's much more manageable. The game is quite similar to the original with some well-considered changes: longer levels, little shrines everywhere, candles—in short, a carefully reworked atmosphere. It will therefore remain legendary for a long time to come.

Das Spiel ist sehr atmospheric and spannend gestaltet. The graphics are solid and are slightly different. If this is not the case, there will be some variations in the Remake.

So I have to say I'm already super happy to have gotten my hands on it after its release, especially since it was cheaper than the original price! I was just a little disappointed when I opened the box and noticed the original box had already been opened… I'm not complaining because everything was inside (steelbook in shrink wrap), but still, it was a bit of a letdown. Otherwise, nothing to say, the collector's edition is fantastic, especially for this iconic game!!!! Enjoy

A fan of the saga? Resident Evil 4 on PS5 is a real treat! This remake lives up to expectations: the atmosphere is just as terrifying, with an impressive graphical overhaul that makes everything even more immersive. The gameplay has been modernized while remaining faithful to the original, making it a great sequel for fans of the series. It's fun to play, whether you're rediscovering the story or diving in for the first time. The moments of tension and action flow perfectly, and the game takes full advantage of the PS5's power. In short, a must-have for survival horror fans!

A very good remake with excellent replay value. The multimedia product could not be loaded. It was with undisguised pleasure that I embarked on this remake of RE4; at the time, I played the game on Gamecube. I found it very enjoyable, even if it broke with the conventions of the first three installments, abandoning the atmosphere/puzzle aspect for action. But I didn't yet know that Capcom would then release two disastrous sequels (RE5 and RE6) where the series got lost in the pitfalls of uninspired action games. Let's get back to the matter at hand, namely this remake freshly released on PS5. Right off the bat, the remastering is undeniable: from Leon's appearance and the level design to the character's handling and the interface, the developers have done a fantastic job delivering a title that's both modern and—it has to be said—gorgeous. When I started playing, two memories were vivid: the village square and the chainsaw-wielding maniac chasing Leon. Well, I wasn't disappointed. The game offers some truly thrilling moments, and I saw the Game Over screen more than once. The sound design is fantastic, the horror element remains strong despite the action-packed gameplay, and the length is impressive! I'd forgotten how long the game was, and it took me 29 hours to complete (trophy progress: 31%). In conclusion, Resident Evil 4 is an excellent remake, with a successful atmosphere, varied levels, and plenty of action. I would nevertheless have a slight preference for the Resident Evil 2 remake, which offers more oppressive closed environments, coupled with the presence of Nemesis, which greatly contributes to the player's fear.

This remake is excellent. A very good remake of Resident Evil 4.

The remake to perfection. Remaster, remake… we've been bombarded with them for three generations, with their ups and downs (replaying titles with improved technical specifications, successful updates) and downs (timid updates paid for at exorbitant prices (Nintendo <3), complete rip-offs)… Here we have the perfect example, one that has been ported to countless consoles, but each time with only timid technical tweaks: RE4. This legendary title justified buying a GameCube back in the day, a massive technical and gameplay leap. A game changer that popularized the third-person shooter before the pinnacle that would be Gears of War. But here's the thing: back then, Capcom's title wasn't without its flaws: QTEs galore, ridiculous sequences, far too long, impossible to move while shooting, and an Ashley you just want to slap… Sure, it's a great game, but riddled with far too many flaws to reach the top prize… So what if we updated the gameplay just enough? Gave it a much-needed and thorough graphical polish? Get rid of all the rubbish from the original and focus on the essence of what makes RE4 a truly great game? Well, here it is! Even though it still has some significant difficulty spikes (oh, those catapults, man XD), nothing here is frustrating. RE4 is a pure video game, an arcade title that makes no secret of it and proudly proclaims it! So yes, the story has gained in seriousness (despite the typical excesses of the saga) and is much more "mature"... But hey, we're not here to laugh out loud at the story ^^' Everything is functional, streamlined, Ashley finally becomes endearing and her duo with Leon finally works! The French dub is really good, allowing you to focus on the gameplay and not the subtitles :-) On PS5 (in performance mode, ray tracing enabled), the game runs like a dream. There's a tiny bit of aliasing in places, but it's really nitpicking given how clean and efficient the game is! With its rollercoaster-like pacing, the perfect balance between action/puzzles/merchants, its well-executed and memorable bosses, accelerating to its epic finale, this RE4 remake becomes an absolute benchmark of the genre!

Maravilloso remake of one of the best video games in the story.

This is why Resident Evil 4 is a version of the Gamecube that has been used for a long time and has been used for the best Resident Evil games. The game will be played in 10 – 20 days. Das hangt aber stark davon ab, auf welchem der 5 Schwierigkeitsgrade ihr spielt. The Multiplayer part has not yet been tested. All in Germany and in the game category, we also have the Trophäe für den Speedrun auf dem harten Schwierigkeitsgrad nie hinbekommen werde.

Top. Superb RE, a special and ambiguous story, as always, a treat

A quality remake. I'd never played Resident Evil 4 before, so this was a great opportunity to discover the game and the series. The remake is truly high quality in terms of visuals, gameplay, and optimization. It also includes the VR version at no extra cost if you own a PSVR2. I really enjoyed the game; I'm not giving it a 5 simply because, in my opinion, the pacing and storytelling could be better, but if you love the series and/or enjoyed the original, you'll undoubtedly love this remake.
Estelle CURIEN –
In the same vein as Resident Evil. Excellent game.

Excellent game. Excellent game, very immersive and quite long for a Resident Evil title if you take the time to properly explore the levels.

Graphically, it's a disaster (Xbox Series X). I don't know what went through the eyes of the video game critics during the review, but the game, while enjoyable and ultimately not far off the 2005 version, has real technical issues. The textures are crude, often blurry, and if you increase the resolution with ray tracing, it really lags. The scene with the lake monster is downright hideous; I feel like it's an Xbox 360 game in that particular section. In short, if you've already played and replayed the fourth game on GameCube, sorry, but I'm not sure it's worth it. You might as well try a "new" game!

Incomplete and late. Having pre-ordered the game on March 10th, I just received it and it's incomplete (nothing to say about the game itself).

Great. I won't judge the game, everyone's already talked about it… the delivery arrived early, in excellent condition, and I'll play it later…
Darghol –
A true delight. This RE 4 remake is a resounding success! Visually, it's a step up from what was done in RE 2 and 3. The game and character remaster is truly pleasing, and the villagers' realism is chilling. The gameplay has been enhanced, notably with movement while aiming and stealth takedowns. Everything responds perfectly. In short, a remake that transcends its original as it should! Both seasoned players and newcomers will find something to enjoy.
Frédéric Collin –
Excellent. A pleasure to play again.
