Watch Dogs Legion for PC is an action-adventure game set in a fictional alternate reality of London. The player chooses which character to play as from a roster of characters, some of whom are available at the start of the game, while others must be recruited as the game progresses. Each character brings a unique personality and set of skills to the game, so it's worth investing time and effort in befriending and recruiting as many NPCs as possible.

About the game

DEDSEC is a clandestine group of hackers striving to liberate the UK from the clutches of an authoritarian regime that knows and sees everything through its comprehensive and omnipresent surveillance and monitoring system called ctOS.

The alternate London of the open world is largely recognizable thanks to the distinctive monuments and buildings that have been transposed from real life, and is overseen by a private company known as Albion, which controls ctOS and is therefore the power holder in the world, now a police state of the United Kingdom.

Players can travel on foot, by vehicle, or using the rapid subway services; fast travel via the subway.

Play with any NPC: but be careful

You can befriend and "recruit" any NPC (non-player character). Once you've invested time in befriending and training them, you can send them on the mission of your choice, and hopefully they'll complete it successfully and come back to tell you all about it and give you all the mission loot you needed to acquire.

However—and this is a significant issue—be wary of sending them on missions for which they are not qualified or sufficiently trained to handle themselves. You can spend hours bonding with and training your character, only for them to die because the mission is more difficult than one or both of you anticipated.

As if that weren't enough, when a carefully trained and meticulously befriended NPC dies, they stay dead. They won't reappear at all during the game, because permanent death is a feature of this game, designed to make you a little more protective of your characters!

There is a small chance of survival in some cases: the player can choose to surrender if they are very seriously injured. This puts them in Albion's hands, but they can then recover and wait for the rescue of the new protagonist and their companions.

Elegant ways to play

Once an NPC is recruited into the party, they are assigned one of the following three classes:

• Combat: focused on weapons, these players become henchmen, ready to conquer hearts and minds with explosive bullets and sticky mines.
• Stealth – infiltrating the enemy to see what they're doing is a must in any war, and these guys are essential to the cause, being able to keep an eye on what the opposition is up to. You get cool combat effects, plus an AR-powered invisibility shield – who wouldn't want that?
• Hacking – waging the good fight from behind a small screen (creating it, anyone?) and sending little spider robots to do real harm and collect data, this course keeps everyone informed as best it can, while avoiding real face-to-face confrontations. Fight at all costs.

In each case, the NPCs' stories affect the preparation and skills they train with, forcing the player to take "human error" into account in certain missions.
