Description
A dark case of corruption unfolds in the heart of New York's underworld for the charismatic detective John Blacksad. In the early 1950s, Joe Dunn, owner of a boxing club, is found dead. Since then, his rising star, Robert Yale, who was supposed to step into the ring for one of the most important fights of his career, has mysteriously disappeared. Joe's daughter, Sonia Dunn, who has taken over the club, is facing financial difficulties. She hires private detective John Blacksad to investigate Yale's disappearance and find him. This grim case will take our investigator into the dirty and gloomy depths of New York. With its anthropomorphic characters and perfectly recreated 1950s atmosphere, BLACKSAD Under The Skin promises an adventure with the dark, noirish atmosphere so characteristic of the eponymous comic book. The game is aesthetically good, it's always the time to move the person and there are some falls that, if you don't have any difficulty, you lose the immersion (on one occasion you have to return to a previous tram for one of these falls, you lose a small part of the progress) So from now on que he jugado hasta ahora se ve interesante.

Okay. A missed opportunity, the detective game that should have been more. The 1950s setting is great; the animal cast is a different twist. Instead of human characters, the 3D graphics are good and the story is decent, but it doesn't go any further. I was hoping that playing this game in 2024 on a PS5 would be great and seamless. But I was wrong; it constantly freezes or takes ages to load the next scene. The controls are painfully clunky. The game is slow and a huge missed opportunity. I bought it offline in a clearance sale, so I'm not too worried but disappointed that there are still so many bugs in 2024. Successful adaptation & engaging investigation. Microids is a French game publisher that releases many licensed games (The Smurfs, Inspector Gadget, Hercule Poirot, Goldorak, and Cobra this summer) or remakes of older games (The Bluecoats, XIII, Front Mission, and recently Amerzone) with varying degrees of success. This adaptation of Blacksad, a Spanish comic book known for its noirish atmosphere with animals as characters, was released in 2019 in a catastrophic state and only became playable thanks to very large patches. I hoped that this PS5 version would fix all the flaws (bugs, crashes, freezes, etc.), and that's indeed the case! Technically, the graphics are quite nice, the animations a bit stiff (which isn't too bothersome for an adventure game with puzzles and moral choices), and the very jazzy music immerses us in the atmosphere of the 60s. The story is Well-written (it's an original story, not an adaptation of one of the comic book albums), it contains numerous references to events in the comics without ever losing the player. The characters are well-written and all quite colorful, the few plot twists and other revelations are well-executed and occur at just the right moment, reigniting the suspense—it's clearly a job well done. Finally, the moral choices are impactful enough to motivate the player to complete the investigation. The only major drawback of the game is the rather frequent and lengthy loading times (everything is relative, but for a PS5 capable of running much more spectacular games, it's long!). I hope, without getting my hopes up too much, that we'll get a second installment of the Blacksad video game adventures, with which I spent 8 or 9 very engaging hours.
