- The multiplayer adventure takes operators around the world, from the Angolan desert (map name: Satellite) to the frozen lakes of Uzbekistan (Crossroads), through the streets of South Beach (Miami), the icy waters of the North Atlantic (Armada) and even the heart of the USSR (Moscow).
- Armada: Based on Operation Azorian, American and Soviet forces arrive in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean in search of a prototype nuclear submarine. The Cold War could swing in favor of whoever recovers it, whether the Soviets or the United States intercept it. Zipline from ship to ship or command gunboats to turn the tide of battle.
- Crossroads: Deep in Uzbekistan, on a crucial route to Afghanistan, NATO forces are mobilized to ambush a major Soviet military convoy of mobile intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launchers. Against the backdrop of the frozen wilderness of the Soviet Union, an MI6 squadron is ready to fight all Spetsnaz forces to seize top-secret intelligence on the convoy, as well as all the supplies needed for future operations. Use tanks to blast through enemy positions or snowmobiles to get behind enemy lines and break through their defenses.
- Miami: With the help of DGI forces, Perseus ambushed and stormed a prisoner transport in Miami's famous South Beach neighborhood to free a trusted ally. Under cover of night, amidst the art deco architecture and neon lights, CIA special forces were dispatched to eliminate the remaining DGI forces and find clues to Perseus's whereabouts.
- Moscow: Deep within the USSR, a Spetsnaz team was dispatched to a compromised CIA safe house to secure the area, capture the remaining CIA agents, and gather further intelligence on NATO's future plans. Initial reports indicate that the area has erupted in flames and fighting has spilled into the streets, prompting a second CIA-JSOC team to arrive as reinforcements.
- The Satellite: Deep in the deserts of Angola, Central Africa, a top-secret, American-made reconnaissance satellite, the KH-9, has been grounded, potentially by Perseus. DGI forces are searching for the sensitive information it contains, while NATO's MI6 squadron has been sent to secure the site and eliminate any DGI stragglers. While this is just a sample of the wide range of maps that will be available at launch, these five maps have been meticulously crafted and are based on authentic, real-world sources. Treyarch's visual research department visited actual locations and scanned thousands of physical objects, terrains, environments, and materials. VIP Escort: In this new 6v6 game mode, teams must protect or subdue a randomly selected player who becomes a VIP. This crucial player receives only an equipped pistol, a smoke grenade, a drone for team intel, and the satisfaction of having up to five other teammates to protect them. These protectors must escort the VIP to an extraction point while repelling the attacking team, whose objective is to neutralize the VIP before they escape. A non-VIP player who dies during the round is eliminated until the next round, but a player with zero health can defend themselves in Last Stand or be revived by a teammate to rejoin the fight.
- Combined Arms: A 12v12 battle combining infantry and vehicles, Combined Arms is a larger-scale mode where the action adapts to the environment. Fireteam: Fireteam is a new 40-player Black Ops Multiplayer category, with up to 10 teams of four, where the action focuses not only on the operators on the ground, but also on the environment in which they fight.
- Those wishing to upgrade their primary or secondary weapons can visit the armory. Each primary weapon can be customized with up to 54 attachments spread across eight different nodes, or attachment points, with at least six options per attachment point. The advantages and disadvantages of each attachment are indicated as an exact percentage change, allowing operators to precisely understand the data behind how each weapon configuration feels in the field, as well as continuing conversations between developers and the community about weapon optimization.

Modern Warfare 2 is a new era of Call of Duty, with new ambitions and it works, finally a Call of Duty where you want to stay, the gameplay is super enjoyable, but unfortunately there are some negative points such as the camouflage challenges which really kill certain game modes, and then the community which still does not evolve.

Fantastic game! As a Call of Duty player and fan, I highly recommend this game; it's excellent. The development team works hard on it with regular updates. This game combines aspects of all the other Call of Duty titles into one. The CAMPAIGN mode is short in my opinion, but very well done. A word of advice: at the end of the campaign, make the right choice ;) The MULTIPLAYER mode is very fun, with regular new mods and maps, and a battle pass that refreshes every season with rewards at all levels. PS: You can upgrade your weapons in COLD WAR, and they will automatically be upgraded in WARZONE (CALL OF DUTY BATTLE ROYALE). The ZOMBIE mode: it's not the best zombie mode in the series in my opinion, but it's still well done with maps like CONTAGION and FIREBAZE, which are fantastic! It's a 5/5 for me.

The game's launch was disastrous, but with each update it has greatly improved. And even though it still lacks the Conquest 64 mode half the time (much better than Conquest 128), the game has come much closer to what it was before; comments from more than 6 months ago are probably no longer valid.

As a huge Call of Duty fan on PS3, I'm not enjoying the game as much… What's the point of having to load save files when we already have the disc? What's the point of buying the disc then? Access is simpler than with Warfare, which was incredibly difficult to install and find offline saves in. I really hope for improvements to Call of Duty, as ease of access is crucial. I wasted so much time installing and reinstalling…
