Cat Quest: A charming RPG with a simple formula. A colorful world, a good dose of RPG elements, plenty of quests, and adorable kittens roaming an open world—that's the Cat Quest formula. The least one can say about Cat Quest is that it doesn't waste time on unnecessary explanations and lengthy dialogues. Why bother when the gameplay is so simple and intuitive, to the point that an average player can master it in two minutes flat? Filled with self-deprecating humor, geeky references, and clever wordplay in every line of dialogue, the game is fully translated into French. In the three installments, you'll explore the Minet Plains and the Purr Mountains before arriving at the Bermiaoudes Triangle, near the Chapitale and its lake, where you might even encounter the blacksmith Kit Cat. Whether you find it tedious or completely captivating, it all contributes to the lighthearted and joyful atmosphere of Cat Quest. While the game itself is solid, Cat Quest doesn't bother with convoluted plots, but rather distinguishes itself through its world structure. Immediately thrust into the action, our little furball moves around in a three-quarter view on a vast, flat map teeming with danger. Everything takes place in this 2D open world: combat, exploration, discovering dungeons, towns, and quests, all while being constantly guided by an arrow indicating where to go to progress the main adventure or one of the many side quests, if you so choose, since freedom is absolute. This proves that Cat Quest is designed first and foremost to be played by anyone: it carefully caters to the player's needs, avoiding overwhelming them with a plethora of options or causing frustration. Death, for example, results in no loss, since in case of trouble, you can simply take a nap in one of the inns generously scattered across the map to regain health, mana, and save your progress. Cat Quest proves that simplicity can pay off. The game purrs along the lines of an RPG formula in its most accessible form, both in terms of gameplay mechanics and structure. Clearly designed for casual gamers, or those looking for a lighthearted, portable diversion, these players are very likely to become hooked on the adventures of their feline knight. Others will probably just let out a meow of indifference.
