Dreadful graphics are awful monotonous game play. I thought it was linked to a great game called Fable. One for the bin.

The game crashes when you get over 200 villagers. Kind of disgusting that this game was released on the switch as any play-testing would have shown that it was unplayable after 4 hours of gameplay. To disgrace

Bad. The game and graphics themselves are very good and beautiful, but it becomes unplayable once you reach a certain population size (between 200 and 230). The game crashes constantly (you quit the software due to an error), so you can only play for 10 minutes between crashes. I even finished the game and got a refund. Very disappointed, because it's a beautiful game.

Recurring bugs. This game is good, but as soon as the village gets too big, it glitches and becomes unplayable. It's a shame.

A chill and easygoing city-builder. Fabledom is a captivating city-builder developed by Grenaa Games and published by Dear Villagers, which reinvents the genre by adding a touch of fairy tale. Available on PlayStation 5, the game combines management, light storytelling, and exploration in a world where villages coexist with dragons, and where building an idyllic kingdom requires a good dose of charm and strategy. This review explores the strengths and weaknesses of this PS5 version. Synopsis and concept: In Fabledom, you play a ruler who starts with a plot of land in a whimsical kingdom. Your goal is simple: build a prosperous village, establish diplomatic or romantic relations with other kingdoms, and defend yourself against lurking threats. The story isn't linear but unfolds based on your choices: the focus can be on romance with other leaders, the prosperity of your people, or military expansion. The game offers a light and accessible tone, inspired by classic fairy tales, which sets it apart from more serious city-builders like Cities: Skylines. Gameplay: Management with a Touch of Fantasy 1. Construction and Management At the heart of the experience is the construction of your kingdom. You must manage resources (wood, stone, gold, food) to build various structures such as houses, farms, or fortifications. Buildings aren't just functional: each structure can be customized to match a fairy-tale aesthetic, with colorful roofs and charming decorations. The gameplay remains accessible, even for newcomers to the genre, thanks to a clear interface and a well-designed tutorial. However, fans of complex city-builders might find the resource management too simplistic. 2. Diplomacy and Romance: One of Fabledom's unique aspects is the ability to forge relationships with other kingdoms. You can establish alliances, trade, or even woo a foreign ruler. These relationships influence gameplay: a marriage can bring additional resources or allied troops, while a war with a belligerent neighbor will force you to strengthen your defenses. Exploration and Threats: Your kingdom is surrounded by a wild nature teeming with mysteries. By sending adventurers, you can discover treasures, rare resources, or even threats like trolls or dragons. These elements add a layer of strategy, but their management remains fairly basic. Graphics and Performance on PS5: Fabledom's art direction is a real success. Graphics: The visual style is reminiscent of fairy tale illustrations, with pastel colors and charming designs. Each season is beautifully rendered, with golden fields in summer, red leaves in autumn, and snowy landscapes in winter. Performance: On PS5, the game runs flawlessly in 4K at 60 fps. Loading times are virtually nonexistent, and the fluidity remains constant, even as your kingdom expands. DualSense Mode: The use of haptic feedback is minimal but pleasant, for example, when placing a building or feeling the roar of a dragon. Soundtrack: The soundtrack transports players to a magical world. The orchestral compositions are gentle and immersive, evoking both mystery and optimism. Sound effects, such as the buzzing of bees or the laughter of villagers, enhance the immersion. However, some of the music could benefit from more variety to avoid becoming repetitive during longer sessions. Lifespan: Fabledom's lifespan depends on your play style. A typical campaign can last 15 to 20 hours, but replayability is high thanks to kingdom customization and multiple narrative choices. That said, the lack of a true multiplayer mode or complex storylines could limit players' long-term interest. Strengths: Charming and unique art direction. Accessible gameplay, ideal for city-building novices. Original blend of management, diplomacy, and romance. Optimal performance and virtually nonexistent loading times on PS5. Weaknesses: Resource management can be simplistic at times. Lack of depth for seasoned city-builder players. Absence of a multiplayer mode or ambitious post-launch content. Final Verdict: Fabledom is a breath of fresh air in the city-builder genre. Its whimsical art style and accessible mechanics make it an excellent choice for players seeking lightheartedness and imagination. While genre purists might lament a lack of depth, casual gamers or those who enjoy fairy tales will find it a captivating experience.

Good little game. A good little game that's easy to platinum. For the price, it's worth it.
