For collectors. Delivery time respected, packaging adequate. 4 stars because the text on the back of the jacket is not in French, but a label affixed by the seller certifies the French version. For collectors, to be stored in its original blister pack.

Superb remake. A surprise hit that ranks among the best JRPGs I've played in 2023. The characters are endearing, and the ability to play through the story by choosing your main protagonist from two options and selecting others from several adds excellent replayability. Especially since the game isn't too long and lends itself well to repeated playthroughs. Technically, it's very pleasing; the graphics, blending 2D for the sprites and 3D for the environments, are top-notch and look great on a large TV. An excellent JRPG to play again and again.

For 2 consoles, PS4 and PS5. I got this version because you can play it for free on both PS4 and PS5, and if you have a PS Vita, I can play it in bed. This game is amazing!!!

The best RPG remaster of the 90s. A fantastic game. A superb 2D HD remaster of a game that was exceptional in its time and can still be played today with the comfort settings. Finally, an RPG without random encounters!

Excellent 2.5D remaster with additions. Received today. A marvel! My quick review: Graphically, it's a pleasant surprise: The backgrounds are redone in 2.5D, even more beautiful than the original, while still managing to retain a retro feel. The characters, however, keep their original grainy look, which isn't a bad thing. Speaking of these characters, the avatars come in three types: modern, manga, and original. Excellent! Musically, it's killer: Motoi Sakuraba's music, already fabulous in the original edition, has been re-orchestrated, exploding into a maelstrom of delight. And, to top it all off, you can also select the original music. It's the player's choice. Now for the voices: you can choose between English or Japanese voices. In this second scenario, two alternatives are offered, the difference being a little difficult to explain for someone unfamiliar with Miyamoto's language like myself, sorry. But it's convenient to be able to choose between these three options. Even better, you can fine-tune the Japanese voices PER character!!! (Only for Japanese voices, though, which is a shame… It would have been interesting to differentiate the "natives" from the "explorers" by their language… Oh well, I'm nitpicking). Subtitles can be set to French, in addition to English, of course. That's fantastic, and I believe it's officially the first time this classic game can be played in French!!! Excellent point. And so the menus, tutorials, explanations… Everything is in (very good) French. I only noticed a small typo in a menu, but nothing serious. (And perhaps even patchable later). Now, the combat: enemies are visible on the map, and therefore AVOIDABLE. Cool. The fights take place, after contact with the enemy and followed by a small effect, on a 3D area, in real time: dynamic, enjoyable, and also offer a parry. I don't remember this one being released on PS1… But they're captivating. The game itself, to conclude, remains the same as the PS1 version, and is incredibly rich: in addition to the classic aspects of a JRPG (experience and skill points), it's possible to cook dishes, providing various bonuses to the characters. It's also possible, using Battle Points earned in combat, to improve the characters' "arts" and "magic." All of this was in the original and has been kept as is, which is a good thing, quite the opposite! In short, excellent on all levels. My score: 19.5/20, narrowly missing a perfect score due to the (very rare) flaws in the French translation and the inability to mix the Japanese and English voices. Excellent vintage, go for it if you like the genre!!! 😍 I'm going back to it! 😎👍(Tested on Switch 1.1 with its latest update) Last thing, you can add characters from other Star Ocean games as "Strikers." And I wouldn't rule out other surprises…
