Larian Studios officially launches Baldur's Gate 3 on PC

Officially unveiled in 2019, Baldur's Gate 3, the role-playing video game developed by Larian Studios, is finally being released sooner than expected. The development team has just revealed that the game will leave early access on August 3rd.

This measure was adopted in particular to avoid a conflict with Starfield, which is scheduled for release on September 6th. The PlayStation version of the game will be delayed to launch at the same time as Bethesda's upcoming RPG.

Larian Studios prefers to avoid a potential long-distance duel between Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield

The version PC of Baldur's Gate 3 will finally be available from the August 3rd. The information was announced by Larian Studios through a blog post published on Steam. To explain its decision, the Belgian studio stated that this will allow players to enjoy the game at a time when they have more time to play it.

Jason Schreier, a journalist working for Bloomberg, also commented on this statement, explaining that Larian Studios' decision would simply be to avoid a direct RPG showdown with Starfield. It's worth remembering that the latter title, developed by Bethesda, is scheduled for release on September 6th.

Furthermore, Larian Studios has also announced that it will be delaying the release date of the PS5 port of Baldur's Gate 3. This was done to ensure that the latest version can support a 60 frames per second refresh rate. Therefore, PS5 players will have to wait until September 6th to experience the game.

For now, the development team prefers to play it safe with the Xbox version of the game. Still in development, this other port of Baldur's Gate 3 will be announced once it runs without any technical compromises.

New elements of Baldur's Gate 3 have also been revealed by Larian Studios.

The development team also took the opportunity to reveal several important details about their upcoming game. These included information on dragonborn and half-orcs, the two new races that will be available at the launch of Baldur's Gate 3.

Similarly, Larian Studios indicated that the level cap for the game is now set at 12. Furthermore, it should be noted that the game will include a new monk class and equally interesting new spells.

Also note that Karlach, a new playable character, is expected to join the game on August 3rd. However, don't forget to mark your calendars for July 7th to watch the Panel From Hell: Reveal Showcase. This special event dedicated to the game will provide more details on these new elements revealed by the studio.
