Discover a classic Super Nintendo title with completely revamped graphics! Released in 1996 in Japan and North America as Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, the very first Mario RPG is coming to Nintendo Switch, localized in French for this release. A predecessor to the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series, delve into the origins of the RPG genre in this adventure blending 3D platforming and combat! Beyond the stunning new 3D graphics, Super Mario RPG brings a host of new features, including a remastered soundtrack, new cutscenes, new difficulty levels, and brand-new combat mechanics!
Rebuild the Star Road! During a series of daring adventures to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser's clutches, Mario is interrupted by a massive sword falling from the sky, shattering the Star Road, a celestial path that grants wishes. The sword belongs to Forgeroi, a robot who wants to seize the seven stars that make up the road and thus dominate the world. Mario must then team up with Bowser, Peach, and two new companions: Mallow, a small cloud who believes he is a frog, and Geno, a wooden doll. Lead this eclectic group, repel attacks that sow discord in the kingdom, and travel through eight regions ranging from the scorching desert to a lush forest to recover each of these stars…
An adventure for all tastes!
– Play as Mario as the main character through a variety of environments. Like in a 3D platformer, you can jump over surrounding obstacles, across chasms or up high, to explore your surroundings and progress.
– Speak with the inhabitants of the Kingdom in Distress to learn more about their connection to the recent upheavals and engage in turn-based combat against enemies; your allies will then appear to support you! Once in villages, you can rest your team in inns or purchase equipment from vendors to improve each of their abilities.
Strength in unity! A battle pits up to three characters from your team against enemies, some more eccentric than others, and unfolds in turn-based fashion. The enemy's response time is directly related to their speed, and the ultimate goal is to deplete the antagonists' health bar!
Each hero has a number of basic actions and unique special attacks: Mario will be very offensive, while Peach will have unique healing abilities! Experience points accumulated through battles allow you to unlock new special attacks. You can also use special items to turn the tide of a losing battle!
– The unique feature of the Super Mario RPG combat system lies in the "coordinated actions": if you press the A button at the right time, the enemy will take extra damage or you can counter their attack; the more you chain these actions at the right rhythm, the more the damage chain will intensify to shorten the fight in no time!
– New to this installment: Trio Action! This devastating attack can be triggered once your action gauge is full. An impressive cinematic sequence featuring all three fighters on your team will then play, unleashing colossal damage!
