The story transports players to the Forbidden Lands, mysterious wildernesses capable of unpredictable change. This vibrant world teems with wildlife adapted to an ever-shifting climate, including colossal monsters that players will face in action-packed encounters. As hunters, players protect the ecosystem's balance and use the resources from their hunts to craft powerful equipment and continue investigating the mysteries at the heart of these new lands.

- New Wild Adventure – Monster Hunter Wilds follows the story of a special research brigade investigating the Forbidden Lands. Fully voiced for the first time in the series, the hunter is accompanied on their journey by a colorful cast of characters: Alma, the guild manager; the trusted blacksmith, Gemma; the young and mysterious Nata; and your Palico partner! Together, they set out to explore an uncharted frontier where surprises await them around every corner.
- A Living World – The Forbidden Lands span multiple biomes with dynamic identities, such as the Windward Plains and the Scarlet Forest. Ecosystems alternate between vibrant seasons and unforgiving climates where monsters fight for limited resources. Changes in the landscape will impact the creatures that inhabit it and force hunters to adapt as well.
- New Monsters and Wildlife – Monster Hunter Wilds features a wide variety of new creatures, from herds of small species to large monsters, some of which roam the Forbidden Lands in packs. These creatures have found their place in these lands by adapting to their habitat and possess unique attacks and behaviors. Players can also ride the Seikret, a new agile mount that allows hunters to traverse difficult terrain, sharpen their weapons on the go, or even switch between weapons during their hunt!
- Advanced Hunting Action – The series' signature frenetic combat action is back! Hunt down monsters with a wide array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. Transitions between cutscenes and combat are now smoother, keeping you in the heart of the action and providing a new level of immersion.
- Crossplay Multiplayer – In addition to having the option to experience the Monster Hunter Wilds story solo, hunters can join up to three other players from any platform to explore the world together and take on the game's challenges as a group or receive help from story characters as support NPCs.
