Scramble: Battle of Britain is a strategic air combat game that plunges players into the chaos above the skies of England in the summer of 1940. Set in a dynamic 3D airspace, this simultaneous turn-based game incorporates the complex details of aerodynamics and simulation based on the laws of physics inherent in the piloting experience, while minimizing the demands on time and reflexes. Players command Luftwaffe and RAF fighter squadrons in intense dogfights over the English Channel. Each phase of the game is broken down as follows: planning, simulation, and debriefing. To begin, players set up aerial maneuvers, then they watch the simulation unfold in real time, before reviewing the action to analyze combat damage using precise camera tools.
Simultaneous turn-based strategic air battles
Scramble: Battle of Britain breaks down the chaotic phases of aerial combat into several thrilling action sequences. Explore the intense tactical space of dogfighting in a turn-based gameplay environment. Locate the enemy, identify threats and targets, then perform loops, rolls, or dives with each aircraft in a life-or-death struggle for survival.
The planning phase of a Scramble round allows players to familiarize themselves with the situation in order to execute combat tactics and maneuvers. Zoom out to see a diorama view of the sky, and manipulate different tools to understand how each aircraft and pilot fits into the overall combat space.
The Scramble round simulation phase puts your tactics to the test amidst a hail of bullets and shredded aluminum. During the debriefing phase, you'll analyze the action frame by frame. Assess combat damage, identify pilots to evacuate, and enjoy the action at your own pace, from your preferred viewpoints.
Simulation, flight physics and subsystems
In Scramble, aircraft are recreated down to the sub-component level to offer an authentic piloting experience. The best tacticians will explore every flight possibility and must master their fighters' dive, climb, and turn capabilities. Bullets will pierce fuel tanks, radiators, and engines, causing leaks and fires. Ailerons and control surfaces will be torn off by pressure, drastically altering the aircraft's aerodynamics. Pilots will tire and may even lose consciousness, as they are just as vulnerable to targeted fire as any other part of their aircraft.
Spot a malfunctioning engine, attempt an emergency landing before a leak empties the fuel tanks, or abandon the aircraft hoping for a rescue. The vulnerability of aircraft and pilots can completely transform the objectives of a battle.
Channel defense campaign
Become a Royal Air Force squadron leader and relive the famous Battle of Britain during World War II. Recruit and train your squadron, relying on the expertise of your section leaders to guide new recruits through the shock of combat. Patrol the English Channel, intercept and repel Luftwaffe raids, and attack vulnerable enemy formations. Manage the physical and emotional strain on your men, identify leaders, and forge heroes. With pilots risking their lives on every mission, will you be able to protect your squadron from an ever-present threat?
