Sublime. Wow, tackling a horror game classic was a daunting task for Bloober Team, and they absolutely nailed it. The atmosphere is magnificent, the visuals are stunning, and you dread finding yourself on a street corner with these demons, which are quite twisted and terrifying. Imagine the look on your face when Pyramid Head rises up before you. Total terror. And surprisingly, now when you're reading an article or looking at documents, the game doesn't pause, and enemies can jump out, adding extra tension. Three flaws for me: the game deserved a French dub. The character seems stiff, the animations are rigid and outdated. The characters' faces are far less endearing or frightening than the original. Maria, for example, was truly beautiful and enigmatic, as if the devil were playing with us; here, that's not the case. Only Eddy stands out. In short, a very good psychological survival horror game, and a truly great classic, remarkably remastered.

A masterpiece not for everyone. In 2001, "Silent Hill 2" was released on the PS2, and for me, as for many others, it was a truly immersive experience that transcended the simple concept of a video game. To this day, along with the first "Manhunt" (another PS2 game), it remains the most disturbing and unsettling game I've ever played. This remake is simply perfect, and while the game may initially seem too polished and slick, the tension and darkness of the work are ever-present and will grip the player tightly. The story: James Sunderland is a widower who lost his wife Mary to a long illness. James is consumed by grief and unable to come to terms with his loss. One day, he receives a letter from his deceased wife inviting him to join her at their special place in the town of Silent Hill. James quickly realizes that the town is practically deserted and that the few "locals" are anything but welcoming… - While the plot may seem uninspiring and rather predictable, the story is much deeper than it appears, and the psychological anxiety and horror go hand in hand, making "Silent Hill 2" unique. Playing it for several hours in the dark with headphones can be very nerve-wracking. The game is restricted to players aged 18 and over, and for good reason, as it's a far cry from "Resident Evil," "Tormented Souls," or the disappointing "Alone in the Dark 2024" and "The Quarry." - Technically, the game is quite "beautiful," and the sounds, noises, etc., are terrifying and heighten the tension. - Last point: the ending wasn't censored like in the HD Remaster version on PS3 and Xbox 360 (released in 2012). Conclusion: The best survival horror game in video game history is magnificent. by the Polish studio Bloober Team, it remains a disturbing work that goes beyond a simple video game. I dare to hope that the other episodes of the series will also receive a new version and that this will revive the license abandoned by Konami.

Terrifying. A scary, terrifying game. But great.

Okay. So either I've gotten too old, or it's really not as scary... Strengths: Generous remake bringing a ton of new features to the adventure. Horror dimension in exploration and combat (well, I'm running at their asses). Stunning art direction. Delightful music and sound design. Good acting. Excellent length for a game of this genre (and multiple endings). A story that's still as strong as ever. Weaknesses: Some sections are too long and repetitive, even if you understand the idea. Animations (facial, body) of the human characters aren't always successful (sometimes their expressions are frightening). No-nonsense gameplay that gets straight to the point, perhaps too much so. Diving back into this Silent Hill 2, completely rebuilt by Konami, is like returning to a cherished childhood village decades later, or stumbling upon a passionate declaration written by someone with whom you've lost touch... everything is there, just like in the memories, but everything is different too. James Sunderland is back, accompanied by his eternal demons. While our hero may have doubts about the necessity of his journey to the heart of the cursed town, we no longer have any: this harrowing trip is a dream for fans, as much as it will be a nightmare for everyone else. Within this landmark story where we are both Eros (and Thanatos), the infernal back-and-forths to the very edge of darkness – even more numerous than in 2001 – will leave casual players by the wayside. The Bloober Team has written a love letter primarily for Silent Hill 2 fans. A letter at least as powerful as the one addressed to survival-horror enthusiasts 23 years earlier, written by Team Silent.

Silent Hill calls James. A masterclass indeed. The town is captivating, the story gripping, with multiple possible endings. The gameplay is simple and effective. Psychological melodrama guaranteed. Excellent work from the studio, faithful to the original.

The game is incredibly awesome, the immersion is at its highest level; the details in the buildings, reflections and shadows that play perfectly with the reflections of the sun, the horror effect that we know from this license is definitely present, I haven't finished the game yet at this point.

I think it can sit at the table of the best remakes.
