Meh. Honestly, I'm very disappointed. It only shares the title and the male protagonist's name with Alone in the Dark, because otherwise it has nothing to do with the spirit of the 2001 game. For me, it's not a remake at all, but rather a new story without the original mechanics that made it unique. In short, nothing special.

I'm having a blast. I'm not a fan of survival horror games like Silent Hill, but for the price, I thought, why not? It's a remake of a game from the late 90s/early 2000s. There are two "campaigns," let's say 8 hours for the first and 6 for the second, since we already know the paths, so to speak. It's great! The offer is fair, the price is right, always better than our current "big franchises" that only want our money and our free time. Definitely worth playing. Besides, getting the platinum trophy isn't hard, which is a bonus.

Much better than expected. I was initially quite apprehensive, especially since the demo didn't showcase the game well, and the last Alone in the Dark game I enjoyed was The New Nightmare on PS1—that was a while ago. But it was a pleasant surprise. The art direction is excellent, many of the environments look fantastic (they're often quite beautiful), and the sound design and music also contribute to the atmosphere. It's worth noting that despite the limited budget (it's not a AAA title), the French voice acting is quite good, which enhances the immersion. The puzzles are also introduced quite well (except for one or two), without being too basic or overly convoluted like point-and-click games. On the downside, I'd say the combat isn't extraordinary, but it's acceptable (on par with Alan Wake 2). Also, a common flaw in many games of this genre is that ammunition and items are found based on what you have (you'll find more ammo if you're almost out than if you've been frugal, which reduces the survival aspect compared to older survival horror games). As for playtime, expect between 10 and 12 hours for a first playthrough (you can choose between two characters, but the differences aren't huge, not on the level of Resident Evil 2 with Claire and Leon). In short, don't be swayed by the mixed reviews of people who have little or no experience with the genre. I found it in many aspects much better than Alan Wake 2. If, like me, you enjoyed the recent Resident Evil games (2, 3, 4, VIII), and you like the genre of these games in general (Silent Hill, Tormented Souls, older Resident Evil games, Parasite Eve), then give it a try.

Excellent game. This game is a remaster and a remake of the older console versions. I first played it on Xbox 360; it's not exactly the same, but it's a masterpiece of the genre, with a somewhat oppressive atmosphere, as we don't know what's happening from minute to minute. It's considered survival horror, but in my humble opinion, much less so than Resident Evil. On the new generation of consoles, this game is magnificent; I highly recommend it, and the price is very affordable, thanks Amazon.

Über 30 Jahre ist es nunmehr her, seitdem Infrogames im Jahre 1992 den Spielern mit der öffentlichung von Alone in the Dark das Fürchten lehren wollte und nebenbei mal eben den Stein des Survivalhorror-Genres ins Rollen brachte.Als Fan eben jenen Genres, der zudem also damals in den 90ern das Original gespielt, jedoch aufgrund des Schwierigkeitsgrades nie durchgespielt hat, habe ich mich auf das Remake gefreut und kam nicht umhin, es vorzubestellen. However, this is not the case. I have to say that there are some stories in the game and it is about to end up with some of the protagonists. Time for a story: Alone in the Dark still (mirror) definitely Spaß, insbesondere die Kombination aus Action-/Survivalabschnitten und ruhigen Passagen, welche mit einer Vielzahl an unterschiedlichen Rätseln aufwarten, passt hier sehr gut. Die Rätsel haben es dabei zum Teil definitiv in sich, sind aber trotzdem stets fair. Diesen leichten Hauch eines euphorischen Glücksgefühls, nachdem man dann doch irgendwann von selbst auf die Lösung eines Rätsels gekommen ist, habe ich schon lange nicht mehr so bei einem Spiel erlebt. Der Horror spielt im Spiel eher eine untergeordnete Rolle und ist von seichter Natur, eher als eine Art „psychologischen Gruseltrip“ könnte man das Spiel bezeichnen. Die Story is dabei durchaus interesting and hat es tatsächlich geschafft, meine Neugierde zu wecken.Grafisch ist Alone in the Dark sicherlich kein Meisterwerk, sieht aber trotzdem in bestimmten Passagen richtig gut aus. Die unterschiedlichen Areale sind dabei abwechslungsreich en Szene gesetzt.Was das Gameplay betrifft, gibt es eigentlich wenig herausragendes, aber eben auch wenig zu beanstanden. Man erkundet die einzelnen Abschnitte, liest sich durch für die Story relevante Hinweise, löst wie bereits erwähnt eine Vielzahl an unterschiedlichen Rätseln und setzt sich gegen einige unterschiedliche Widersacher zur Wehr. Dabei sind die Kampf-/ und Actionpassagen sicherlich nicht die Starke des Spiels; These are the parts that are right and the corners are black and white. Trotzdem fühlt sich auch hier alles fair und machbar an.Unterm Strich habe ich zwischen 4 und 5 Sternen geschwankt, aber da es sich um einen relativ kleinen Entwickler handelt und man dieem durchaus Tribut zollen darf, gebe ich 5 Sterne. The nostalgic feeling in the game is definitely the biggest story of Alone in the Dark and it's a star-studded story in the 20th century. Finally, Alone in the Dark returns to the legendary legend of the saga! Leider habe ich diesen Klassiker früher nie gespielt. Daher cann ich in dieser Hinsicht keinen Vergleich anstellen.Insgesamt gefällt mir das Spiel gut, Grafik top, interessante, wenn auch recht unverständliche Geschichte, tolle Atmosphäre, net Rätsel, fleet Ladezeiten usw.Dagegen stehen tw. Probleme mit dem Sichtbereich, etwas unpräzise Kämpfe und zähe Bewegungen des Spielcharakters sowie eine eher kurze Spielzeit mit ca. 8 Studen. Zum Glück kann man die Geschichte aber auch mit der jeweils eteren Hauptperson noch einmal spielen.
